Peter F. Ennis, 60, Ashland, went to meet his heavenly father on Sunday, March 18, 2018.

Born in Ashland, he was the son of the late Charles Albert and Jean E. Wofgang Ennis. He was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church, now St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Ashland.

Pete never let his downs stop him. He loved everyone he came in contact with and they loved him back especially children, in which he was very gentle with. He was a true gentleman.

Pete loved bowling, baseball and football and his favorite teams always won even though they may not have been playing. But his greatest love was Elvis Presley and he could have gave him some competition.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother Gracemarie Waskow Ennis; his brothers: Robert, Joseph, Charles and Jack Ennis; his sisters Cathy Holmes and Betty Hoover.

Pete is survived by his sister Mary Ludwig, Ashland, with whom he lived for 7 years; his brother, William (Deb) Ennis, OR; his brother, James (Juliette) Ennis, CA; his brother, Michael (Laurie) Ennis, Ashland; his sister, Helen Ennis, Mount Joy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews especially Steve (Carol) Ennis, Mount Carmel, with whom he lived for the past 15 months; his step-brothers Kurt Waskow, Ashland, Glenn Waskow, Easton, and William Waskow, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, with Rev. Paul Rothermel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made, in Peter’s name, to Family Medical Hospice at 50 S. Oak Street, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.

Katherine M. (Jones) Melnick, 89 of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania. 

Widow of John Melnick who passed on January 6, 2010. She is survived by; daughter, Deborah J. Wertz of Tamaqua with whom she resided; son, Stephen M. Melnick and his wife Edna of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Russell Stellfox and his wife Kristen, Celena Bamford and her husband Ryan, Amber Wood and her husband Dr. Lance Wood, Kristie Huffman and her husband Brent; great grandchildren, Aidan, Mia, Sophia, Siena, Ellie, Sawyer, Reuben, and Quincy. 

Born Monday, March 19, 1928 in Mahanoy City, the daughter of the late John, and Mary Ann (Draper) Jones. She was also predeceased by; son, John T. "Mel" Melnick on Nov. 6, 1993; son-in-law, Rodney Wertz; sisters, Elizabeth Paulie, Hannah Crimmey; brothers, Daniel and John Jones. 

Katherine attended Mahanoy City schools and worked in many local Textile factories as well as caring for the elderly. She was a longtime member of St. John U.C.C. of Tamaqua and was a former choir director. She enjoyed the constant companionship of her dog Max.

Jean H. Gurnavage, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Hometown Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr in Tamaqua at the age of 80. 

Widow of George John Gurnavage who passed away on July 10, 2011 she is survived by; daughter, Jean Marie Morrison and her companion Dave Schuetrumpf of Tamaqua; sons, George J. Gurnavage of Colorado Springs, Co, James M. Gurnavage and his wife Karen of Easton; sisters, Dorothy Cappel of Spring City, PA and Nancy Hoban and her husband James of Reading; grand children, Jeffrey Gurnavage, and Cassandra Krause and her husband Robert; great grand children, Cameron and Lucas. 

A 1955 Tamaqua High School graduate, she also attended McCann's School of Business. Jean retired from the billing department of Hazleton General Hospital. Devoted to our Lord, Jean was an active member of the Dawn Bible Students Association. Jean was very social and enjoyed walking the town. She was devoted to her family. 

Born Wednesday, January 19, 1938 in Tamaqua the daughter of the late Lester, and Dorothy (Moyer) Herring.

Harvey J. Hummel, of Tower City, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018.

Harvey was a W.W. Navy Veteran.

He was retired from Mid Penn Bank, where he also served on the board of directors.

Harvey was actively involved in the Tower City Community, he will remembered for his dedication to many organizations.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Ethel Mehalko Hummel; 3 children; 2 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Emma Mae (Daubert) Blose, 93, was reunited with her late husband, Harold J Blose, on Sunday, March 18. Surrounded by family, she passed peacefully at Heritage Mills Personal Care in Tower City, Pa.

Born in Freeland, Pa. in 1924 she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Edward Daubert and Nettie Uada Hoffman.

She graduated from Freeland High School and soon after joined a sister, Henrietta, and was employed riveting bombers in an airplane factory in Baltimore, Md.

She returned to Freeland and after the War met and married the love of her life, Harold. They eventually moved to Phoenixville, Pa. where Emma later became employed by the Control Data Corporation in Valley Forge, Pa. Upon retiring the couple moved to Wernersville, Pa. where she spent all but the last 10 months of her life.

She is survived by her children: Linda wife of Sam Ott, Phoenixville, Pa. William, husband of Cynthia (Ott) Blose, Douglasville, Pa. and Harold "Bip" Blose of Tower City, Pa. She is also survived by three Grandchildren William (Bill) of Douglasville, and Amanda Kay Blose wife of Michael Adams of, Baltimore and Jessica Lee Blose, wife of Chris Selby of Baltimore. Seven great grandchildren, Destiny Hughs, Joshua & Addyson Adams, KayLee and Austin York; Christopher and Emma Selby, all also in Baltimore who she adored as well as fourteen Nieces and Nephews scattered across America.

In addition to her parents, Emma was predeceased by all her siblings. Malcom Henry (infant), Henrietta Stower of Freeland, Winifred Cea of Hazleton, Audrey Elizabeth (child) of Freeland, Edward James of Philadelphia, Nettie Kenvin of Hazleton, and Lloyd (Skip) Daubert of Philadelphia and Nephew Robert Daubert of Hazleton.

Burial will be held privately at Union Cemetery in Weatherly, Pa.
