John L. (Jack) Stitzer, 94, of Gordon passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at his home.
Born in Gordon, March 3, 1924 he was the son of the late Norman H. and Ada (Sell) Stitzer. He graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1942. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II with the 159th Engineering Combat Battalion in the European Theater where he earned the following medals: Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Legion Ribbon, E.T.O. Ribbon with 5 Battle Stars, World War II Victory Medal and the French Medal of Honor.
After the war Jack attended Kutztown College for one and a half years. He later owned and operated Stitzer Lumber Co. for 20 years. He then worked for Ajax Building Supplies for 20 years from which he retired in 1986. He was a member of Christ's United Lutheran Church, Airport Rd, Ashland.
Jack was a Life Member of Gordon Gun Club, Life Member of Ashland Elks where he was Exalted Ruler in 1964 and 1980, Life Member of the Amvets, and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. He received his 50 year pin from the Masons, and was also a member of the American Legion.

Jack is survived by his wife of 70 years, Beryl Grace (Reese) Stitzer. Also surviving are three children: Jacqueline Babb and her husband Richard of Gordon; Michele Kirwan of Greenbelt, MD; and Norman and his wife Sandy of Gordon. Seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Dora Hills, and Helen Seltour; stepmother Margaret Richardson and stepbrother Robert Richardson.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Christ's United Lutheran Church, Airport Rd, Ashland, PA with Rev. Brian Beissel officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday at the church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle, PA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ashland American Legion, 501 Center St.Ashland, PA or Christ's United Lutheran Church. Airport Road, Ashland, PA. Karl P. "Mudd" Moyer, 84, of Tremont, passed away early Wednesday morning at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Tremont Township, October 19, 1933, a son of the late Lloyd and Sara Yost Moyer.
Karl was employed by the United States Postal Service for over 36 years, retiring as the Postmaster of the Tremont Post Office.
He was a dedicated member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Tremont, Tremont Senior Citizens and the former Tremont Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marlin Moyer, December 22, 2016; a sister, Thelma Spittler.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Vinnie Brown Moyer; his children, Karla (Scott) Witmer of Hanover, Krystal (Michael) Scheib of Palmyra and Kelly (Pryce) Parker of Tremont; Daughter-in-law, Lori Moyer, Linglestown. His grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Nelson, Christopher (Brianne) Witmer, Shaylene (Andrew Moser) Scheib and Kerri (Eric) Kroh. Two great grandchildren Eli and Leo Nelson.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc. Tower City with Rev. Marlene Duffy-Guy and Pastor Thomas Degnitz. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the chapel. Private burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Tremont. Gerald K. "Jerry" Schoenauer, age 70, of Pottsville, PA passed away Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 at Arden Courts Nursing Home, Linglestown, PA.
Born in Pottsville, PA on August 26, 1947, he was the son of the late Francis C. and Mary Kathleen (Gallen) Schoenauer.
Jerry graduated from Nativity B.V.M. High School, Class of 1965. He then earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Penn State University in 1969 and after Vietnam; he earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army as a CPT in the Vietnam War from 1969 till 1973, flying Apache helicopters.
Jerry worked for The Department of Transportation in Washington D.C until retiring in 2007. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Pottsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Thomas and David Schoenauer and a sister Eileen Jordan.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 11 years, Barbara (Anns ) Bedson Schoenauer, Pottsville; a daughter Virginia Schoenauer, wife of Kim, Virginia; a son Thomas Schoenauer, husband of Janine, Virginia; step-children: Emily Scheidel, wife of Michael, Schuylkill Haven, Michael Bedson, Florida, and Billy Bedson, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers: Msgr. Francis Schoenauer, Allentown, Daniel Schoenauer, husband of Elizabeth, and Ciaran Schoenauer, husband of Cindy, New Jersey; sisters-in-law: Jeanine Schoenauer and Tara Schoenauer, both of Maryland; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville at 11AM on Saturday, March 10th, with Rev. David Loper and Msgr. Francis Schoenauer officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday morning from 9-11AM at St. John the Baptist Church.
Interment with Military Honors will be held in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Pottsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund 913 Mahantongo Street Pottsville, PA 17901.
