Around 1:20pm, Thursday, emergency personnel were called to the "Y" intersection of Route 924 and Ringtown Boulevard, West Mahanoy Township, north of Shenandoah for a single vehicle accident.
Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak was called and pronounced John Markosky, 96, of West Columbus Street, Shenandoah, dead at the scene at 1:40pm.
A virtual autopsy is scheduled but a medical emergency is thought to have been the cause of the crash.
West Mahanoy Township Police are investigating the crash.
