Additional details have been released from a fatal accident in North Union Township on Wednesday.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred near the intersection of Cove Mountain Drive and Nuremberg Mountain Road in NorthUnion Township near Oneida around 8:00pm.
Police say the vehicle, a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan was being operated by Dominic Mott IV, 24, of Hazleton. Mott told police that he lost control of his vehicle due to the wet road and rain conditions. During the crash, Mott's vehicle exited the side of the road and impacted several large rocks. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn several times before coming to a final rest along the road.
During the crash, the moment of the rollover ejected a passenger from the back seat of the vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at 8:32pm by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner David Truskowsky. The victim's identity has not been released at the time of this posting.
Mott reportedly suffered injuries of unknown severity in the crash and was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley by APTS. A front seat passenger, identified as Ceara Correia, 20, of Hazleton was also injured and transported via EMS for treatment.
The driver and passengers were reported to not be wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The roadway was closed for several hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Also assisting at the scene were the PSP Troop L - Reconstruction Unit, PSP Troop L- Forensic Services Unit, East Union Township Police, Sheppton Oneida Fire Department, and Nuremberg Weston Fire Department.
