Amanda Vernitsky, 35, of Schuylkill Haven was charged by borough police on Wednesday for the death of a 5 month old boy at her home in June 2017.
Court papers say an autopsy found that the child suffered from severe head trauma but at the time of the incident, Vernitsky told police the child had fell. Police say the injuries were not consistent with the story that Vernitsky gave.
Vernitsky was arraigned and charged with Murder in the third degree, voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, and other charges.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 14, 2018.
