Elizabeth M. Nolter, 93 of Mahanoy City, died April 30, at Ridgeview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah, PA
Born September 5, 1924 she was the daughter of the late John “Casey” and Elizabeth (Stanakis) Jones.

She was preceded in death by husband Joseph in 2000 and a brother John Jones in 1976.
She retired from the Mahanoy Area School Cafeteria in 1989. Betty was a member of the Elks auxiliary B.P.O.E 695, Nights of Lithuania #144, 1942 class reunion committee member; Rosary Society of St. Fidelis Church and St. Francis Sisters of Pittsburgh.
She is survived by a son, Joseph T. Nolter Jr. and his wife Patricia, of Mahanoy city, daughter Barbara Dereskavich and her husband Joseph, of Barnesville, daughter Virginia Haitz of Havertown PA and a sister Janice Britton of Mahanoy City. She is also survived by 5 grand children, Melissa, Matthew, Christian, Joseph, and Phillip, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and a newphew.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 10am on Friday, May 4th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.
Friends may call Friday 9am at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish.
Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.

Evelyn P. Miller, 96, of Quakake, PA died on Sunday, April 29, 2018 in Hazleton, PA.
She was the widow of the late Roger H. Miller who died May 7, 2016. Born in Brandonville, PA on March 7, 1922, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Arthur M. and Catherine (nee Hinderliter) Powell.
A graduate of the former Delano High School, she worked for McAdoo Manufacturing. Evelyn was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Barnesville, PA. She was a decorative artist whose hobbies included painted decorative furniture and embroidery needlework.
A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Evelyn is survived by daughters, Rita Williamson of Quakake, PA and Regan Miller of Hometown, PA; granddaughter, Christine D. Joyce and her husband, James of Pottsville, PA; great grandchildren, twins Luke and Hannah Joyce and Lily Joyce; and brother, William Powell and his wife, Janice of Tamanend, PA.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Renee Williamson. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 12 in the White Church Cemetery, Barnesville with The Rev. Janet Kline officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.zgfuneralhome.com.

Eleanor E. (Shoup) Zubowicz, 86, of Ringtown, and a former resident of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.
Born in Shenandoah, Jan. 19, 1932, she was a daughter of the late William and Helen (Smith) Shoup.
She was a 1950 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
Eleanor was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and prior to that, a lifelong member of the former St. Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah. She enjoyed gardening and bingo but above all, she loved being with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony S. Zubowicz Sr.; her son, Anthony S. Zubowicz Jr. and his wife, Susan Glowacki Zubowicz; her great-grandson, Russell Anthony Zubowicz; her daughter Karen’s late companion, Daniel J. “Derchie” Dereskiewicz; three brothers, Wilbur, Clarence and Stephen Shoup; two sisters, Isabelle Nolter and Dorothy Shoup.
Surviving are her son, Jeffrey “JZ” Zubowicz, Ringtown; her daughter, Karen Zubowicz, Ringtown; a grandson, Michael Zubowicz and his wife, Nikki, Ringtown; a great-grandson, Jack Andrew Zubowicz; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Casimir’s Church, the Sacred Worship Site of Divine Mercy Parish with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A viewing will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
