Girardville Man In Custody for Attempting to Rob Ashland Pharmacy

A Girardville man is locked up in prison after attempting to rob an Ashland pharmacy earlier this week.


According to Ashland Police, on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018, around 1:30pm, borough police received a call that a male with mental health issues was in Bracey's Pharmacy with a toy gun demanding Demerol. 

County Communications advised police that the actor had left the scene after being chased from the store.

Investigating Officer Daniel Weikel spoke with the employees at the pharmacy and viewed security footage and identified the suspect as Michael Barry, 42, of Girardville.

Barry left the pharmacy empty handed during the incident.

Officer Weikel filed charges of attempted robbery, simple assault, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, illegal possession of a firearm and disorderly conduct against Barry and a warrant was issued.

Barry was taken into custody without incident at his home on Friday, June 1st and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, Frackville and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unalbe to post $25,000 straight cash bail.
