Mahanoy City Hires New Borough Manager and Part Time Police Officer

During Tuesday night's borough council meeting in Mahanoy City, a new borough manager and part  time police officer were hired.


As part of the council's meeting agenda, the two position were voted on.

During Chief Kenneth Zipovsky's police report, he highly recommended the borough to hire Jordan Smith for the position.  A vote was held by council and was unanimously approved.  The hiring is contingent on Smith successfully passing a police background investigation, physical examination, psychological examination and complying with MPOETC standards.

Also motioned later in the meeting was hire a new borough manager.  The position was left vacant after previous manager Dan Lynch left the borough to work for the city of Hazleton. 

During the vacancy, Cindy Soley and William Killian handled the borough manager duties.

A motion was made to hire Cindy Soley as the new manager which was unanimously approved by council.
