Marian Catholic Students Receive Awards at Junior Academy of Science State Competition

Marian Catholic Students Receive Awards at Junior Academy of Science State Competition.


Mrs. Jean Susko, principal, at Marian Catholic has announced that eight students received awards during the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition held at Penn State University Park.

Robert Valente, Marian Catholic Chemistry teacher and Lorraine Piehota, retired Bishop Hafey Science instructor were sponsors. James Roslevich, Computer Instructor at Holy Family Academy served as a judge and male chaperone and Zelda Ondish, Librarian at Holy Family Academy was the female chaperone.

SPECIAL AWARDS

*Aaron Srinivasan, senior, son of Dr. Arvind and Renee' Srinivasan, Sugarloaf, Region 2 Executive Board award for the highest score for six years of participation – Plaque and $ 500,

Perseverance Engraved Clock for 6 years of state awards, Regional Excellence Plaque in Microbiology, and Presentation Certificate. 

*Aidan Hinchey, senior , son of Bill and Maureen Hinchey, Slatington, Perseverance Engraved Clock for 6 years of state awards, Regional Excellence Plaque in Ecology, and Presentation Certificate.

*Nicole Capparell, junior, daughter of Jack and Connie Capparell, Hazleton, PA Science Talent Search Plaque and $100 and Perfect Score in Microbiology at the Regional and State level

*Grace Mussoline, junior, daughter of Rocco and Diane Mussoline, Drums, Perseverance Award for 4 years of State Awards and 1st Place Presentation at the Regional and State level in Behavior Psychology 

*Thomas Betterly, sophomore, son of Howie and Stephanie Betterly, Perfect Score at both Regional and State level in Behavioral Psychology 

*Maxwell Schwabe, freshman, son of Marybeth Hayden, Hazleton, Regional Excellence Plaque in Junior High Biology and 1st Place State level in Biology

Presentation Awards

*Alison Anilosky, sophomore, daughter of Jeffrey and Sharon Anilosky – 1st Place at the Regional and 2nd Place at the State level in Behavioral Psychology

*Vincent Pan, freshman, son of Jerry and Jessy Pan, Hazleton, 1st Place at the Regional and State level in Behavioral Psychology
