Martin "Chilly Willy" W. Zaprazny, 89, of West Penn Township, PA and formerly of Hometown, PA, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at home. He was the husband of the late Elsie E. (nee Hosler) Zaprazny who died in 2007.
Born in Allentown, PA on January 31, 1929, Martin was a son of the late John and Marie Zaprazny. "Chilly Willy" was the owner and operator of the Chilly Willy Ice Cream Truck for 58 years, delivering ice cream treats to the local communities of Tamaqua, Mahanoy City area, Shenandoah, and Lehighton.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. An avid fisherman, Martin spent free time fishing at Mauch Chunk Lake, Tuscarora Lake, and Locust Lake.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Secara and her husband, Charles of West Penn Township and Cindy Shlanta and her husband, Andrew of West Penn Township; grandchildren, Marianne Lupkin, Charlie Secara, Kaitlyn Shlanta, and Michael Shlanta; great grandchildren, Mason, Elsa, and Jessalyn; brothers, William and Daniel; and sisters, Dorothy and Jeannie.
Martin was predeceased by brothers, John and Frank and a sister, Blanche.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 20 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery will follow.
