According to Orwigsburg Police, on Monday, July 2, 2018 at approximately 9:10 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on Clark Drive in the Borough of Orwigsburg for an active disturbance.
While responding, the Orwigsburg Police were advised that the suspect was last seen leaving the residence.
Upon arriving in the area, officers were met with a vehicle leaving the area which was stopped and whose occupants were identified.
The driver, identified as Stephen Haeberlein, 36, of Weston, Florida, was found to have an active bench warrant out of the Schuylkill County Detective’s office for criminal trespass.
Upon attempting to take Haeberlein into custody, he locked himself in his vehicle and refused to exit. Haeberlein then put the vehicle in gear and fled from the scene, nearly striking officers from both the Orwigsburg and Penn State Police Departments.
Charges have been filed against Haeberlein for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person, and flight to avoid apprehension.
A warrant will be issued for his arrest.
