According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg, the incident occurred around 6:30am, Friday morning at the intersection of Route 61 and Jetson Drive, in Tilden Township, .
According to police the incident occurred when Francis Mack, 53, of Frackville was travelling northbound in the left lane of Route 61 near the intersection with Jetson Drive.
Mark Schaner, 31, of Hamburg was on foot crossing the northbound lane from the berm to the median.
As Schaner made it to the center median, he immediately turned around and re-entered the left northbound lane directly into the path of Mack.
Schaner was struck and transported from the scene to Lehigh Valley Hospital (Cedar Crest) where he was pronounced dead.
Details on the crash were corroborated by numerous witnesses of the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing.
