Harry C Huntsinger, age 89, of Valley View, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

He was born in Valley View, a son of the late Robert J Huntsinger and the late Iva Seitz Huntsinger.

He was a 1947 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

Harry served in the US Air Force during the Korean war.

He retired from Ft Indiantown Gap Military Reservation.

Harry was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.

He was also a member and Past Master of F&AM Valley Lodge 797 Valley View.

Harry enjoyed woodworking and made numerous grandfather clocks for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Roberta L Keefer Huntsinger, to whom he was married for 33 years.

He is also survived by two sons, Eric S Huntsinger of Valley View and Darrell E Huntsinger and his wife Barbara of Valley View; three step sons, Richard L Gessner and his wife Bernadette of Leck Kill; Robert A Gessner and his wife Cathy of New Columbia, and James C Gessner and his wife Christine of Leck Kill; a step daughter, Kathleen L Anderson and her husband Robert of Hernando, FL; two grandchildren; five step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Buch of Harrisburg.

As per Harry's wishes there will be no services.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

Ralph C. Zilker, age 75, of Mahanoy City, died Sunday at his home.

Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital he was the son of the late Leon P. and Florence (Stefanowicz) Zilker Sr.

He was a 1962 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and was a proud Army veteran serving 3 tours of duty in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was of the Catholic faith. He had been employed by Hollander Home Fashions. He was a member of the Washington Hook and Ladder Fire Company in Mahanoy City where he was a former Vice President and Trustee, Schuylkill County Firefighters Association, American Legion Post 74 also of Mahanoy City, VFW and the Loyal Order of Moose.

He was preceded in death by a brother Leon P. Zilker Jr. and a sister Florence Mitchell.

Survivors include a brother Paul and his wife of Joan of Mahanoy City and nieces and nephews.

Services will be announced upon completion. David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis Martin, 92 of Pottsville, died Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East Norwegian St.

She was born May 25, 1926 in London, England.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elvin Martin; a son Brian Martin. Surviving are 12 children, Charles Otterbein, Pottsville; Josey Wright, Pottsville; Clarence Martin, Pottsville; Joseph Martin, Pottsville, John Martin, Pottsville; Diane Martin, Girardville; Shirley Myers, Orwigsburg; Mary Austerberry, Pottsville; Dolores Fisher, Pottsville; James Martin, Pottsville; Debbie Tobias, Pottsville; Elvin Martin, Harrisburg; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Maryanne L. Androkitis, 81, of Tamaqua, PA died on Monday, September 17, 2018 at home. 

She was the wife of the late Alphons “Alfy” Androkitis who died in 1992. Born in Coaldale, PA on October 29, 1936, Maryanne was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (nee Shimkus) Wychulis. A 1954 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she worked for the Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds, PA. Currently a member of the Parish of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua, Maryanne had been a member of the former Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua where she was active in the Ss. Peter and Paul Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Rosary Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society at church, a member of the Tamaqua Women’s Club, formerly a member of the Tamaqua PTA, and had served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. 

Maryanne is survived by sons, Anthony C. Androkitis and his wife Linda of Tamaqua and Christopher L. Androkitis and his wife Jennifer of Roseville, CA; daughter, Ann Marie S. DeLauretis and her husband, Larry of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Heather, Megan, Kyle, Lauren, Brandon, Devon, Austin, and Patrick; great grandchildren, Dominick and Xazier; and numerous nephews and nieces. 

She was predeceased by siblings, Stanley Wychulis, Carl Wychulis, and Martha Zoba. Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 21 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. 

Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown will follow the services. Call 9-11 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials in Maryanne’s name may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Louis A. “Louie” DeMarkis, 88, of 12 East Hancock Street, St. Clair, died Saturday at Lehigh Valley Health Network – Cedar Crest, Allentown PA.

Born in St. Clair, November 15, 1929, He was a son of the late Attilio and Rachael (Stephen) DeMarkis.

He retired having worked in the Garment Industry for 45 years at several area factories.

He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair, where he was very active in Parish Activities. Louie was an avid outdoorsman belonging to The South End Field and Stream Association, Frackville. He also a lifetime member of the Rescue Hook and Ladder Fire Company #3, St. Clair.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Mary Trapani and 3 brothers Paul, Francis, and Joseph DeMarkis.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Luby (Zagar) DeMarkis, 2 sons Louis DeMarkis Jr. St. Clair; John DeMarkis, Locust Grove, VA; 3 grandchildren Matthew, Brian, and Jared, sister Rose Prock, St.Clair; brother Attilio DeMarkis, St. Clair; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christen Burial will be on Friday 10.30 AM, Sept. 21, 2018 at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church 250 East Hancock Street St. Clair, PA 17970 17970.

The Rev. William Glosser will be officiating. Friends may call from the church Friday from 9:30AM till 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Claire of Assisi Memorial Fund.

Elaine M. Landers, 79, of Minersville, passed away on Saturday surrounded by her family at Orwigsburg Center.

Born in Doylestown, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Lillian Clark Hamilton. She attended Central Bucks County schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Landers, in 2017; a brother, Elwood Hamilton; a sister, Kay Hamilton.

She is survived by six children, Pamela Cavanaugh (spouse, Michael), Philadelphia, Sherry Davis (spouse, Terry), Philadelphia, Greg Hamilton (spouse, Chris), Pottsville, Mark Hamilton, Minersville, Chuckie Hamilton (spouse, Chris), Pottsville, and Bridget Stine (spouse, Scott), Branchdale; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by seven brothers, James Hamilton, Bucks County, Carl Hamilton, New Hampshire, David Hamilton, California, Henry Hamilton, Bucks County, Richard, Bucks County, and Paul Hamilton, Jamison; two sisters, Joan Davis, Warrington, and Dee Ciocca, Ambler; nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends may call at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of service at 10:00 A.M.
