Ruth Sheeler, 81, a longtime resident of The Gardens at York Terrace, formerly of Seltzer, Norwegian Township, passed away on Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill -- East.
Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Ida Froutz Sheeler. She was a 1955 graduate of Pottsville High School and attended Ford Business School. She was employed at the Pottsville Hospital for nine years before becoming a private caregiver in Reading and, later, in Illinois and Canada. She was last employed by the Rosewood State Hospital, Reisterstown, Maryland for five years before returning to Schuylkill County in 1976.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minersville.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Adam, Carl, Herman, Wayne, and Arthur Scheeler and Robert Sheeler; a sister, Dorothy Ann Broadfoot.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Denise Rich (spouse, Joseph), Seltzer, and Cindy Barbedette, Pottsville, Linda Hettinger, Florida, Richard Scheeler, Arleen Coady, Dorothy Scheeler-Breen and Leona Parsons, all of Newfoundland; her sister-in-law, Ida Sheeler, Cumbola.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township.

Mary R Wixted , 93, formerly of St. Clair, passed away Friday at Pinebrook Personal Care and Retirement Center, Orwigsburg PA.
Born in Branchdale, June 3, 1925, She was a daughter of the late Patrick and Jane (Rountree) Quinn.
Mary graduated from Reilly Township High School.
She retired working in Food Service at Schuylkill Intermediate Unit and Necho Allen Hotel, Pottsville.
She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Wixted , sister Anna Kurutz and brother James Quinn.
Surviving are 2 daughters Jane Gonzalez and her husband Richard , of Schuylkill Haven, Patricia Lapinsky and her husband Dennis , of New Holland, 4
Grandsons Mark and Christopher Gonzalez, Eric and Michael Lapinsky, 6 Great Grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday September 25, 2018 at 10:00 AM from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair. The Rev. Msgr. William F. Glosser will be officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund. Burial will be in St. Mary Star of the Sea Cemetery, Llewellyn.
