Emily Demalis, a Shenandoah Valley Senior, has been chosen as the Shenandoah Rotary Student of the month for September.
Emily is the daughter of Anthony and Judy Demalis.
She is a captain of the Basketball and Volleyball teams and also participates in Track and Cross Country.
She is also President of the Student Council, Senior Class, and National Honor Society. She is also a member of the 2016 Central PA HOBY Schuylkill Community Leadership Workshop, National Society of High School Scholars, Mini-Thon, Morning Announcer, Float Committee, Prom Committee, Formal Committee, Spring Queen Committee, Gifted Program, Educational Talent Search Program, Yearbook Committee, Powderpuff Football participant, Spring Queen Candidate, and Homecoming Candidate.
Outside of school, Emily participates and numerous committee service groups including Volunteer painter for Shenandoah Rotary (Rotary Way footsteps), Volunteer server for Frackville Elks’ breakfast, Volunteered at the Frackville Elks charity bingo, Speaker for Veterans Day Program, Volunteered at Mini-thon stand at gold out football game, Volunteered at seventh grade orientation, Volunteered at Meet the Teachers night, Volunteered in concession stands for youth soccer, CYO basketball, and high school football, Volunteered at the Downtown Shenandoah Inc. golf tournament fundraiser, Volunteered at various stands during festivals such as Kielbasa Fest and Frackville Elks Summer Craft & Vendor Show, Powderpuff football charity game organizer, Volunteered at junior high track meets, Volunteered at junior high/elementary cross country meet, Stat recorder for basketball team, Shoveled snow and cut grass for elderly neighbors, Volunteered services at blood drive, Volunteered at elementary field day, Volunteered at elementary book fair, Volunteered at school sports tournaments such as Hoops for Heart, Volleyball, and 5-on-5 basketball.
Emily loves reading, swimming, sports, and puzzles.
Here future plans are to attend college and major in biomedical engineering.
