A Mahanoy City woman is facing charges after police say she left two dogs in an abandoned home.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, around 10:50am, Tuesday, troopers were called to 28 Walnut Street, Delano Township for a report of dogs left in an abandoned home.
Police say the dogs were found to have no food or water and showed signs of being malnourished.
The home had not been cleaned and was overrun with fecal matter.
The Hillside SPCA assisted and took the two dogs into custody.
Delano Township code enforcement officer condemned the residence unfit for human habitation.
The owner of the dogs, Patti Herring, 30, of Mahanoy City, was cited for neglect of the animals and will answer to the summary charge at Magisterial District Judge Kilker's office.
