Catherine C. Myro, age 71, of Pottsville, PA passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018 at her home. 

Born in Pottsville, PA on August 26, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Claire (Schroding) Schaurers. Cathy was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1965. She worked in the Deli for Weis Markets in Pottsville for 17 years until retiring. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Middleport. Cathy loved going to the casino, playing bingo, and listening to music, especially Led Zeppelin. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John J. "Jack" Myro on September 30, 2017.

Cathy is survived by two sons: John J. Myro Jr. and his fiance' Maria Mason, Cressona and Brian K. Myro, Middleport; a daughter Janet C. Myro, Pottsville; 3 granddaughters: Justine, Jaimie, and Amanda Myro and her fiance' Ryan Hunt; a grandson Brian K. Myro Jr.; a great-granddaughter Jenevieve Myro; and nieces and nephews. 

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 8PM on Saturday, November 24th, with Pastor Peggy Sue Pfeffer officiating. Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday evening from 5-8PM at the Funeral Home.

Alfred W Beruck, age 83, of Hegins, formerly of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2018.

He was born on Friday, November 23, 1934, in Shenandoah, a son of the late Harry Beruck and the late Mary Betlow Beruck.

Al retired from the former Allied Signal, Minersville.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Al enjoyed, fishing, camping, collecting coins, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by three brothers Harry, Andrew, and Michael Beruck; and a sister, Olga Ulinitz.

He is survived by his wife Shirley A Kotes Beruck, to whom he was married for 54 years.

He is also survived by a daughter, Shelley A Beruck of Collegeville; a son, Alfred J Beruck and his wife Ann of Hegins; two grandsons, Zachary Freil and Bradley Freil; a sister, Alice Picard and her husband Dennis of Hinsdale, NH; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View.

Ruth M. Nester, 76, of Hometown, PA died on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in Allentown, PA. 

She was the wife of the late Paul Nester, Sr. who died December 10, 2000. 

Born in Shenandoah, PA on February 18, 1942, Ruth was a daughter of the late George A. and Irene (nee Levy) Maurer. A member of The Parish of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua, PA, she also attended Tamaqua High School. 

Ruth is survived by grandsons, Paul Nester and Eric Nester of Scranton, PA; granddaughter, Heather Macijowsky of Dalton, PA; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Wassel and Marjorie Lincovich; and several nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by son, Paul Nester, Jr. in 1994. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown, PA will follow the mass. Call 6-8 PM on Friday and 9:30-10:30 AM on Saturday at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association GPA, 57 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 OR St. Jerome Regional School, 50 Meadow Avenue, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Rosaria J. (Manzo) Visalli, 93, of Pottsville passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at HCR ManorCare, Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, September 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Caterina (Tassone) Manzo.

Rosaria was a member of St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

She was a seamstress for 50 years working at Cressona Knit. Rosaria enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafting, and bingo. She enjoyed life and loved spending time with her family especially around the holidays. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Manzo, sisters, Elizabeth Krizno, and Jenny Miller.

She is survived by her sons, James Visalli, Schuylkill Haven, Joseph Visalli and his wife Pat, Minersville; daughters, Rosemary wife of the late Nathan Perreira, Maui, HI; Joanne wife of Joseph Tilghman, Chesterfield, NJ; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a sister, Katherine Manzo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Church of St. Patrick, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. Family and friends may call at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville from 9:30AM until 10:30AM. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pottsville.

Mr. Robert J. "Bob" Schegan Sr., age 68, of Locust Valley, died Monday evening at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem.

Born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital he was the son of the late John and Helen (Lord) Schegan. He was a 1968 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and served with the National Guard. He retired from PennDot after 33 years of services and also owned and operated his auto repair garage from his home. 

is survived by his wife of 44 years the former Michele McLaughlin, 3 sons Robert Jr. and his wife Kerri of Kutztown, Zack and his wife Lindsay of the Lewistown Valley and Cody and his girlfriend Brittany Fryer of Barnesville, a brother Carl of Hazelton, a grandson Caleb Schegan, a sister in law Geraldine Getz of Macungie and nephews Jon Getz and his wife Kat and Josh and Christian Schegan.

Linda M. Slingwine, 73, of Tower City, passed away Thursday, November 22nd at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Bath, New York, September 29, 1945, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Doris Daley.

Linda was a graduate of Haverly High School, Bath and Harrisburg Area Community College where she received her LPN.

She was retired from the Harrisburg Hospital as an anesthesiology technician in the surgical department.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City; a member and past president of the ladies auxiliary of the Gratz V.F.W.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Slingwine.

Surviving are her two children, Andi Richard, Oldsmar, Florida and James Kolva, Millersburg; Six step-children including Jean Zimmerman, Tower City; a granddaughter, Danaca Clark; numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Siblings, Cathy Matter, Tom Daley, Steven Abel all of North Carolina; William Daley, Theresa Bishop and Richard Daley all of New York. Nieces and nephews.
