This past week, Schuylkill County Toys for Tots learned they needed to remove their collection bins from the Saint Clair Wal-Mart. Other area Wal-Mart locations have announced the same policy.
The announcement as a hit to the organization since each of the Wal-Mart locations has proven to be the highest in collections.
Local donors have stepped forwarded to help compensate for the loss in collections.
John Kuczynski, of Zion's Grove, also known as Johnny K, the professional darts player, is currently in his 11th year in collecting Toys for Tots. In that time, he has collected over $300,000 for the organization.
On Saturday, he held a toy drive in the Saint Clair Home Depot Parking Lot, right next door to Wal-Mart.
"After hearing the news about Wal-Mart, I didn't want to see the organization lose those donations, so I reached out Home Depot and they agreed to the Black Friday Toy Drive", said Kuczynski.
The toy drive was held from 10:00am until 6:00pm, with donors waiting with toys at 10:00am.
Kuczynski hoped to fill the trailer he brought by the end of the drive.
Other area locations have announced donation bins as well including but not limited to, the Saint Clair Police Department, Boscovs, Leiby's Restaurant, Pine Grove High School, Pfeiffer Brown Dinicola & Frantz, and Lehigh Valley Hospital East
