Mail Carriers Continue Tradition of Delivering Letters to Santa for North Schuylkill Kindergartners
For over 30 years, workers at the local Postal Service have met with North Schuylkill Elementary Kindergartner students to pick up their letters to Santa.
On Monday, United States Postal Carriers Richard Fritz and Haley Jackson arrived at North Schuylkill Elementary and visited each classroom to continue that tradition.
Each student received a "special" stamp to place on their envelope, a candy cane, and colored pictures that will hang in the Post Office over Christmas.
The letters will then be delivered to the North Pole in time for Christmas.
The tradition was started at Ashland Elementary in 1983 and has continued on at the newer elementary school.
"The Kindergarten Teachers and Students would like to thank the Ashland Post Office along with mail carriers Ricky and Haley for taking care of this very important task for us! This is a longstanding tradition at North Schuylkill and we are so happy to keep it going! This is a memory that our students will have forever!" said Kindergarten Teacher Jamie Swartz.
