Mark J. Chuplis, 60, Ashland passed away unexpectedly on Monday Nov. 26th while vacationing in Las Vegas, NV.
Born in Shenandoah, he was a son of Cecelia Murray Chuplis, Lake Placid, FL and the late Albert Chuplis.
Mark was a graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School, Fountain Springs and a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Girardville.
Mark was the President and CEO of Cannon/Sline Industrial Coating until his retirement. He was an active board member with the FCA, an LMCI Management Trustee, Industrial Coating Committee Chairman and a member of the Painters and Allied Trade DC 21 union.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Albert and his sister CeleAnn Fickinger.
In addition to his mother Cecelia, he is survived by his wife of 38 years Kathleen Houser Chuplis, Ashland; his three daughters: Tara and her husband John Stanton, Pine Grove; Kenna and her husband Justin Bradfield, Frackville and Chelsea Chuplis of Ashland; his brother Edward Chuplis, Lake Placid, FL; 8 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:15 am on Saturday at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Kimberly E. Scott, 57, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday, at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.
Born in Doylestown, on August 3, 1961, a daughter of Barbara (Bell) Abrams, Adamsdale and the late David Abrams.
She was the wife of Thomas Scott.
She was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church Schuylkill Haven, where she was a former council member and Sunday school teacher. She was also a cheerleading coach and was involved with many activities her daughters were in.
Kimberly was last employed by at Fessler's Knitting Mill in the finance and accounting department.
She was a graduate of Blue Mountain and went on to receive her associates degree in accounting and paralegal. She then attended Albright and received her B.S. in Business Management.
In addition to her husband and mother, Kim is survived by her children Jordyn Kriner wife of Jonathan, Schuylkill Haven, Tomara Peterman wife of Kevin, VanBuren, Missouri and Chris Barker wife of Cassie, South Carolina; grandchildren Makehla, Emagen, Shilah, Daniel, Rian, Owen and Serenity and siblings David, Peggy and Jeff.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 8th at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven at 11 a.m.
A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday, Dec. 8th.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc. 25 East Main Street Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972, to help defray costs.

Andrew M. Svrcek, Jr., 48, of Wind Gap, PA was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 2 after his return of cancer.
Andrew was born on October 21, 1970 in Pottsville to Andrew M. Svrcek, Sr. and Rose Ann (Winter) Svrcek.
He was graduated from Nativity BVM High School, Class of 1988. He was also a proud Veteran of the United States Army.
Andrew loved to entertain. He always said “If you come to my show and leave your troubles and worries behind for a few hours, then I’m doing my job.” And he did that everytime. Some of his greatest accomplishments in his career include a number of first place finishes in Elvis tribute artist contests, singing at the Ryman Auditorium, and performing with Georgette Jones (daughter of George Jones and Tammy Wynette).
He had a heart of gold, always doing for and thinking about others first. Andrew touched the lives of all that knew him and made their world brighter. He was a true inspiration, a warrior.
Andrew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joseph and Isabelle Svrcek and maternal grandfather Joseph Winter.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Kayla (Maier) Svrcek; step mother Beverly Svrcek; Gary Parkhurst; maternal grandmother Irene Hart; sons Andrew III companion of Kayla and Michael husband of Emily; sister Rose Ann wife of Shawn; and brother Jason husband of Victoria. He is also survived by in laws Frank and Cynthia Maier; sister in law Angela wife of Shane; sister in law Stefanie; brother in law Ryan husband of Jen; sister in law Amanda wife of Bryan; brother in law Jason husband of Crystal; along with several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Andrew’s life will be held 1PM Saturday December 8 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville PA. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 11AM until the time of service.

Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Poslosky Zitka. She was a 1967 graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School. She worked at Boscov’s in Pottsville. She has also served as a truant officer for the Minersville Area School District.
She was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, Minersville. She enjoyed the company of her canine friends; and the loving presence of each of her grandchildren even more.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Richard Zula, Sr. in 2016. She was also preceded by a brother, Joseph Zitka, in infancy.
Joanne is survived by five children, all of whom reside in Buck Run: Richard Zula, Jr. (spouse, Melissa), Joseph Zula (spouse, Kim), Lori Motley (spouse, William), Lisa Conville (spouse, Francis) and David Zula; ten grandchildren, Rachael & Lauren Zula, Emily Kapcia (spouse, Joseph), Sabrina & Madison Zula, Sara & Paul Motley, Nikki & Cory Conville, Rebecca Zula.
Relatives and friends may call at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 6:00 A.M. until 10:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, 135 Spruce Street, Minersville. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Kostka #2 Cemetery, Branch Township. The family prefers contributions to Hillside SPCA or Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA.

Joan P. Kupchinsky, 85 of Pottsville, died Tuesday morning at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
She was born January 5, 1933 in Pottsville a daughter of the late, Alfred and Erma Kline Perrott.
She was a 1950 graduate of Pottsville High School where while a student she played the piano for assemblies, glee club and choir.
She was employed by J. Robert Bazley, Inc., and the Schuylkill County District Attorney Office prior to retiring in 2002.
Joan was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville where she was a Deacon and an Elder for 2 terms, and a former Pottsville Lionette where she was Secretary, Vice-President and President.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Perrott and a sister, Betty Lazendofor. Surviving are her husband of 58 years Dr. William Kupchinsky; a son Scott Kupchinsky and his wife Betty, Chatham, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Amelia, Charles and Edward Kupchinsky; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 11AM from United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville with Rev. Sue Marie Baskette officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6-8pm Sunday and 9AM until the time of services Monday at the church. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions be made to United Presbyterian Church, 214 Mahantongo St. Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment will be in Mt. Peace Cemetery, Minersville. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
