Just after 9:00pm, emergency personnel were dispatched to a home on Mountain Road, in Gordon, for a house fire.
The Gordon Fire Department, American Hose Co. (Ashland), Washington Ambulance (Ashland), and Butler Township Police responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the homeowner, who is also an active member of the Gordon Fire Department, had put out the fire on his own, but heavy smoke conditions still remained in the basement.
The responding fire crews checked for extensions of the fire and also assisted with ventilation.
Crews remained on-scene for about an hour before clearing the scene.
