Frances E. Stephen, 94, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday afternoon at Providence Place, Pine Grove surrounded by her family.

Born in Pottsville, on January 21, 1924, she was a daughter of the late William Arnold and Abigail Louise (Reber) Huling.

She was a graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Frances was a member of Summitt Station Fire Company, Saint Clair Fire Company, and Seniors of Schuylkill Haven.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and attending high school reunions.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony H. Stephen, on November 19, 1994; sisters: Grace Kull and Rita Weissmiller.

Frances is survived by a daughter, Terry C. Julian, wife of Samuel, of Schuylkill Haven; three sons: Don Lee Stephen, husband of Kathy, of Cressona; Anthony Stephen Jr., husband of Betsy, of Schuylkill Haven; and David F. Stephen, husband of Lisa, of FL; grandchildren: Tony, Nick, Greg, Don, Samuel Jr., Abby, Debbie, Monica, Melanie, and Stephanie; 5 great-grandchildren: Alana, AJ, Kyle, Chase, and Kevin; and 5 great great grandchildren; sisters: Jean Hanaway and Betty Styler; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Monday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with the Msgr. Zemanik officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff at Providence Place and Compasses Hospice Care for the loving care that was shown to Frances.

Rosemary S. Bendza, 67, of Buck Run, passed away early Thursday morning at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Rose Hughes Horn.

She was a graduate of Nativity BVM High school and received her Nursing Degree from Sacred Heart University, Allentown. She was a member of the former St. Kieran’s Church, Heckscherville. She was also a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.

She is survived by a daughter, Anna Griffith, Coplay; a son Peter Bendza, at home; a granddaughter Ava Griffith; a brother Joseph Horn, at home; 3 sisters, Carol Joprey, Pottsville, Nancy Mistishin, St. Clair, and Colleen Stefanic, Tennessee; nieces and nephews.

John R. Bova, 69, Frackville, passed away peacefully Thursday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with his family at his side.

Born in Shenandoah he was a son of the late John and Irene Mentusky Bova. He had been employed as a janitor for several area businesses until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by a sister Rosemarie Turgeon and a brother David Bova.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years Rosalie Marhon Bova and by several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Rose Ann 'Rosie' Aponick, 55, a former resident of Ringtown, went to Heaven to be with her beloved daddy on Friday, January 4th, 2018.

Rosie was born in Shenandoah, on December 20, 1963, a daughter of Joanne (Zarcufsky) Aponick and the late Joseph Aponick.

She was a graduate of the Schuylkill IU 29. Rosie was employed by Avenues of Pottsville for 26 years and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Ringtown.

Rosie spent the last six years living at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community where she was always wheeling herself around and enjoying the many activities that the manor had to offer, her favorite being bingo. She made many friends while living there and the staff became her second family.

Along with her mother Joanne, Rosie is survived by her brother Joseph, and his wife Jennifer Aponick; sister, Billy Jo, wife of David Burger and sister and best-buddy,Tracey Aponick. She is also survived by two nephews, Jonas and Caleb, along with aunts, uncles and cousins.

Rosie will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemtery in Ringtown, following private services for her family.

In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a donation in Rosie's Memory is asked to do so to the Activity Fund of the Shenandoah Senior Living Community, 101 East Washington Street, Shenandoah, PA 17976.
