Born in Brooklyn NY, she was a daughter of the late William and Katherine Bossert Degen. She had been employed as the clerk for the former Youskitis Plumbing Co, later Wayne Plumbing, Ashland, until her retirement.
She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Girardville. She was a 50 year member of the Girardville American Legion Post # 309 Auxiliary, where she held all offices, member of Schuylkill County American Legion Auxiliary where she also held all offices and a member of the 8 & 40 club and also a member of the Girardville Good Times Club. She joined the Frackville American Legion Auxiliary after the Girardville Legion Auxiliary disbanded.
The last member of her immediate family she was preceded in death by her 4 brothers and 2 sisters; Henry, Charles, John, Thomas, Helen and Margaret Degen.
Elizabeth is survived by three sons; Raymond and his wife Arlene Sachleben, Ringtown, William and his wife Ann Marie Sachleben, Shenandoah and Thomas and his wife Brenda Sachleben, Girardville, her three daughters; Kathleen wife of Ed Schafer, Philadelphia, Patricia David, Mahanoy Plane and Mary Ambrose, Girardville, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Girardville, Sacred Worship Center of St. Charles Borromeo Parish with Rev. Brian Miller as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of mass.

Abel Elijah Kiene, 3 1/2 month old son of Cory Kiene and Stephanie Hellinger of Birds Hill Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East.
He was born on September 19, 2018 in Hershey.
Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Bruce Hellinger, grandmother, Jennifer Kling Kiene, great grandfather, Frank Reed, great grandmother, Constance Kiene.
Surviving, in addition to his parents are his grandmother, Patricia Haldeman Hellinger, grandfather, Robert Kiene, great grandparents, Ralph and Darlene Haldeman, Helen Kling, all of Pine Grove, John Kling of Lewisberry, Linda Grace Hellinger of Reading, Norton Kiene of Myerstown, aunts and uncles.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Richard Hoffman officiating. There will be a calling time on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 745 W. Governor Rd., Hershey, Pa. 17033 in his memory.
