Tamaqua Organizations Partner to Create Escape Room

Raiders STEP Up and the Tamaqua Community Arts Center have partnered together with the support of Tamaqua Area School District administration to create a local escape room, "The Art of Escape Tamaqua," set to run as a limited time engagement through the month of February.

This project began several months ago and has been a wonderful opportunity for a number of students at TAMS and TAHS to develop clues, participate in construction, paint, clean, provide art work, design t-shirts, and volunteer in various ways over the upcoming month.

The Art of Escape Tamaqua offers two different escape room experiences to choose from.

Teams of 4-6 people can register together in advance at the link provided below.

Individuals are welcome and will be paired with others to form larger teams. "Escape the Past" transports you back to 1959 Tamaqua, and you must find the clues and collect the artifacts that don't belong in the past.

"Escape the Wabash Tunnel" takes you down into the tunnels of Tamaqua that have just collapsed requiring you to use real mine equipment to find the light of day before your air runs out. Both provide one hour to escape.

The Escape Room Project was mindfully designed with the purpose of addressing the importance of a quality connection between youth and positive adult role models. Connections with such adults and community attachment are two of the best protective factors for youth development and drug and alcohol prevention. Please consider taking advantage of this wonderful experience.

Tickets are $5 per person. Times are available on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the month of February. Visit tamaquaarts.org or call 570-668-1192 to reserve your spot.

Participants arrive at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center at 125 Pine St. Tamaqua, PA 18252. They are then shuttled to the escape room location at 602 Pine St. and shuttled back to Hope & Coffee which is next door to the Community Arts Center.
