Incumbent Recorder of Deeds Ann Dudish is seeking a bid for re-election for the Office of the Recorder of Deeds of Schuylkill County.
The responsibility of the Office of the Recorder of Deeds of Schuylkill County is to maintain permanent records of all documents related to real estate, such as deeds, mortgages, and subdivision plans. The Office records veteran’s discharge papers, also known as a DD214, and notary public commissions. The Office is also the transfer agent for the realty transfer tax for 67 municipalities and 14 school districts and the state realty transfer tax.
Dudish, a Republican, was appointed to the position by Governor Corbett in 2014 after her husband, A. Matthew Dudish, passed away during his last term as Recorder of Deeds.
During Dudish’s 4-year tenure, she completed a digital records project to provide access dating back to 1949 both on the public access terminals in the Office and through pa.uslandrecords.com.
“I believe providing accessible and efficient public access to the permanent records is an essential function of my office.” said Dudish.
Dudish also negotiated a renewal of a 5-year contract with her vendor for the hardware and software used in her office without an increase over the prior 5-year contract. Dudish instituted the process of e-Recording in the Office.
Anyone who would like to record a document can now do so at https://erxchange.com and select Help. This improved process provides immediate rejection if the document is not recordable. Previous paper rejections had a minimum 2-day turn around.
Dudish has gone through four county audits and two state audits with zero deficiencies.
