On Thursday evening, Schuylkill County Commissioner Gary Hess and his running mate, Joe Palubinsky, formally announced their bid to run for Schuylkill County Commissioner in the 2019 election.
Hess and Palubinsky, both Democrats, made the announcement in front of almost 300 attendees at a reception at the St. Clair Fish and Game Club.
Hess, who served as Mayor of Schuylkill Haven from 2006 to 2011 prior to being elected County Commissioner, will seek a third term.
He and his wife Sandy resides in Schuylkill Haven and are the owners of Hess Catering Inc. in Schuylkill Haven.
Palubinsky, of Ringtown, has served the Borough of Shenandoah as Borough Manager for over 20 years .
The event was opened by Schuylkill County Democratic Chairman, Hugh Reilly, with Schuylkill Haven Mayor Mike Devlin introducing the candidates.

- Catherine Mahon, for Schuylkill County Treasurer
- Ron Pellish, for Schuylkill County Clerk of Courts
