Ann Marie “Annie” (Gavenas) Lombardo, 69, of the Village Apartments, Coal Street, Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street.
Born in Shenandoah, December 2, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Kubilus Gavenas.
She was a retired garment worker having last been employed at the former Martin Shirt Co., Shenandoah.
Ann was a member of the former St. George’s Church, Shenandoah, where she actively volunteered at parish events. She was also a member of the Amalgamated Garment Workers Union and a former member of the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens.
She called bingo at the Village Apartments and enjoyed trips to the casinos. Ann was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles fan. She enjoyed the frequent visits of her family’s pet dogs, Bo, a poodle-mix, and Buttons, a beagle. But above all, she most treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were two brothers, an infant, John Gavenas, and Charles Gavenas.
Surviving are one son, Mark Hysock and his wife, Lisa, of Shenandoah; two daughters, Lisa Drumheller and her husband, Brian, of Shenandoah, and Annie Morrisey, of Bethlehem; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Edward Gavenas, of Shenandoah; nieces and nephews.
Religious services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Myron Grabowsky will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rita T. (Guziewicz) Zukowski, 81 of Bear Gap Road, Elysburg and former resident of Shenandoah passed away on Friday at her home.
Born in Shenandoah on December 11, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Denchy) Guziewicz.
She was a graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School.
Throughout her life, Rita was a spiritual person and was a devout Catholic; she was member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Slabtown and St. Casimir’s Church when she resided in Shenandoah.
She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed reading. Above all, her family was of most importance to her.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were husband Walter A. Zukowski in 2006 and one brother, Theodore Guziewicz.
Surviving are one son David Zukowski of Elysburg; four daughters, Alicia Errichiello and her husband Louis of East Islip, NY, Cynthia Wemple of Elysburg, Janet Nicholas and her husband Bryant of Lebanon and Mary Kay Zukowski of Elysburg; three grandchildren, Melissa Heintzelman, Patrick Forbes and Zachary Zukowski; three great-grandchildren, Caden, Esmae and Emeric; two brothers, Joseph Guziewicz of Shenandoah and Paul Guziewicz and his wife Nancy of Easton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Casimir’s Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.

Joanne 'Peachie' Aponick, 78, of Ringtown, went to heaven on Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 to be with her beloved husband and daughter.
Born in Gilberton, on December 16, 1940, Joanne was a daughter of the late Alberta (Yockachonis) and Joseph Zarcufsky.
She attended the former JW Cooper High School in Shenandoah, and then worked in the local garment industry. She was last employed by and was retired from Jeld-Wen in Ringtown.
Peachie loved going to the casino with her sister, Nikki. She also loved a good bingo game and playing pinochle with her sister in-law Bonnie and her friend Mary. Her grandsons were the love of her life and she enjoyed going on vacation with them and her children.
In addition to her husband Joseph, she was preceded in death by her daughter Roseann on January 4, 2019 and by a brother, Joseph Zarcufsky.
Peachie is survived by her children, Tracey Aponick; Billy Jo, wife of David Burger and Joseph Aponick and his wife Jennifer.
She is also survived by sisters, Anna Jankaitis, Charlotte Litwak and Lenore "Nikki" Zarcufsky. Her two grandsons Jonas and Caleb survive as does her brother in-law and sister in-law, Bob and Bonnie Aponick, along with aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, March 2nd at St. Mary's Church on North Center Street in Ringtown. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held from 9 AM until the time of mass at the church.
Peachie will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery immediately following the mass.
