For the first time in more than 20 years, Schuylkill County will have an endocrinologist practicing in the community.
Robert A. McCauley, MD, with Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) Endocrinology–1243 Cedar Crest is now seeing patients at LVPG Endocrinology–Claude A. Lord Boulevard (Pottsville).
Patients should speak with their physician or primary care provider first to see if a referral to an Endocrinologist is appropriate. Patients can contact our toll-free scheduling at 888-402-LVHN (5846) for appointments.
Endocrinologists are doctors who specialize in glands and the hormones they make. They deal with metabolism which influences all the biochemical processes that make your body work, including how your body changes food into energy and how the body grows.
“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. McCauley to Schuylkill County,” says Robert DeColli, DO, MBA, Medical Director of LVPG–Schuylkill. “This is a very important specialty, particularly for many residents of our community who, until now, oftentimes had to leave the community for this type of specialty care.”
McCauley is board-certified in two specialties – in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and in Internal Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pa. and completed fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, N.J. McCauley also completed his Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
McCauley says his philosophy in medicine and treating patients is to empower them to take control of their health. “My role is to provide them the tools and guidance they need to live healthy and to optimize their medical therapy.”
