Around 11:00pm Sunday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of the Ashland Fish and Game Club, on Germanville Road, in Butler Township, for a search and rescue.
When crews arrived, they were informed that there was a male who had a possible medical emergency and was unable to get himself back down the mountain between Germanville Road and Ashland. The only information crews had was that victim was able to see the cell phone tower on top of the mountain.
Crews moved from Germanville Road to Paul Street were a command post was established and rescue crews attempted to make there way up the mountain.
Emergency personnel dealt with muddy terrain and deep snow and eventually found the individual with the help from a search dog named Charlotte, at the top of the hill near the cell phone tower.
Emergency personnel were able to get the male back down the mountain on the Ashland side via the cell phone tower access road to a waiting ambulance about an hour and half after the call came in.
Washington Ambulance from Ashland transported male to an area hospital for further evaluation.
Crews cleared the scene about 1:30am.
Responding to the scene were Fountain Springs Fire, Lavelle Fire, Washington Rescue (Ashland), Washington Ambulance (Ashland), Shenandoah ALS, Butler Township Police, and the search dog, Charlotte.
