Rhoades Named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year

On Tuesday, the Atlantic 10 conference announced that Mike Rhoades was voted the A-10 Coach of the year.

The league announced its awards Tuesday in advance of the 2019 Men's Basketball Championship, which begins Wednesday at the Barclays Center.

Mike Rhoades, a native of Mahanoy City, and head coach of the Virginia Commonwealth University Men's Basketball team, led VCU to a 16-2 record in league play, the most conference wins by an A-10 team since the 2005-06 season. The Rams, who are 25-6 overall, were picked seventh in the preseason poll entering the season.

Rhoades was hired as head coach in March 2014 and had been an assistant coach since 2009.
