Jennie Mattern, 101, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at ManorCare Health Services, Pottsville.

She was born January 16. 1918 in Branch Township to the late Charles E. and Florence (Thomas) Mattern.

She was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville. Jennie enjoyed reading her bible, following her faith, and she enjoyed crocheting.

Jennie worked for local factories as a seamstress including Pottsville Shirt, Miss Pennsylvania, and retiring from Van Heusen.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry, Alvin, Curtis, and Clarence Mattern; sisters, Winifred Bobbs, Verna Quarembo, Ivy Neuser, Florence Smith, Bertha Wolff; and several nieces and nephews.

She was survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville. Pastor David Wood will be officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Leonard D. "Lenny" Peiffer, 64, of Pine Grove, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazelton.

Born on September 3, 1954 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late William and Romaine Klinger Peiffer.

He was a 1972 graduate of Pine Grove High School and a member of Hetzel's UCC, Pine Grove.
Lenny worked as a Chicken Deboner for the former Grimes Poultry, now Pennfield in Fredericksburg, was a janitor at Pleasant Valley Homes and a dishwasher at Red Lion.

Surviving are his sister Karen Peiffer, a niece, Jadzia Hoy, both of Pine Grove, aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Jill Bierwirth officiating. There will be a viewing on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Rd., Gettysburg, Pa. 17325 in his memory.

Thomas J. Schnieder, 74, of Lykens, passed away Thursday at Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born in Harrisburg, March 10, 1945, a son of the late John and Evelyn Wiest Schnieder.

Tom was a 1964 graduate of the former Lykens High School. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam war.

He was retired from Powell, Rogers and Speaks, Inc., Halifax.

Tom enjoyed working in his yard, spending time with family and took great pride in his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Schnieder.

Surviving are his wife of thirty years, Rose A. Matter Schnieder; a son Jeff Schnieder; daughter, Kim Painter and her husband David, both of New Jersey; two step-sons, Kirk Peterson and his wife Yuka, Japan and Drew Peterson and his wife Kristi, Lykens; ten grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Schnieder, Elizabethville. Nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at 12 noon from the Calvary United Methodist Church, Wiconisco with Pastor Annette Shutt. Burial with military honors will be Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-12 noon at the church. Memorial donations in Tom's name should be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 320, Wiconisco, PA 17097. Eileen J. Blackwell, 62, of Frackville, passed away Saturday, March 23rd, 2019.

Eileen was born in Shenandoah on February 8, 1957, a daughter of the late Gladys (Klemavage) and Franklin Knipe.

She was a graduate of the Hazleton High School and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Brandonville.

Eileen enjoyed crocheting, crafting, doing puzzles and gardening.

Family was very important to her and she cherished her grandchildren and great grandson.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Blackwell of Frackville and children: . James II Blackwell, and his wife Jeneen, of Mahanoy CIty; Christopher Blackwell, and Nicole Dinofa, of Lost Creek; Matthew Blackwell, and Jessica Catherman, of Frackville; and Sarah, wife of Jeffrey Fritz , of Nanticoke.

Two brothers; John Knipe, and his wife Patricia, of Ashland; and Keith Knipe, and his wife Theresa, of Sheppton and a sister Lois, wife of Thomas Butler, of Frackville also survive as does eight grandchildren; Jimmy III, Bethann, Courtney, Jeffery, Austin, Cheyenne, Justin and Kailey and a great grandson, Marc, along with nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 28th at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, with Rev. Bruce Nobel officiating.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eileen's viewing from 9 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, March 28th at the funeral home prior to the service. Eileen will be laid to rest in the Brandonville Union Cemetery following the services.

Theresa Lipp, 95, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Friday, March 22nd, at Hometown Nursing and Rehab Center.

Theresa was born in Mahanoy City, PA on January 3, 1924, a daughter of the late Barbara (Smith) and John Lipp.

She graduated Mahanoy City High School Class of 1942

Theresa was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City, PA 17948.

She worked at City Shirt, Mahanoy City.

Theresa was a member of the Golden Age of Mahanoy City, St. Fidelis Rosary Society. She was also a singer for weddings and funerals in the church choir.

Theresa is survived by a brother, Charles and his wife Frances, of Bethlehem, nieces and nephews. Also survived by her devoted caregiver George Kline, Mahanoy City

She proceeded in death by a brother, the reverend John Francis Lipp, 2 sisters Mary Irvin, and Georgine Dusky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 9 am on Saturday, March 30th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.

Friends and family may call Saturday 10 am at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Donations are preferred to St. Teresa of Calcutta or Mahanoy Area Golden Age.

A graveside Services will be held in St. Fidelis Cemetery Mahanoy City.

Kevin White, 59, of 819 Center St. Ashland. passed away Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 at his residence. Born in Philadelphia, PA September 17,1959 the son of Carol (Mattro) White, Ashland and the late Clarence White who died in 2013.

He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland. Graduated from
North Schuylkill High School Class of 1977. He was an avid Notre Dame, Eagles
and Philadelphia Phillies fan. In addition to his Mother surviving are two sisters: Karen Borgeson of Harrisburg,PA and Kimberly Berkheimer of Mt. Pleasant, S.C..
Aunts, uncles and cousins survive.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland, PA, at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 1,2019. Rev. Paul Rothermel officiating. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, PA. Visitation Monday 10:00 A.M. until the time of Service at 11:00 from St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland, PA.
