(04/23/19) The Pennsylvania Game Commission has scheduled a prescribed burn near Tamaqua on Tuesday.
According to the Game Commission, a Prescribed Fire (aka Controlled Burn) on State Game Lands 275 in Walker Township, Schuylkill County on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
The burn is being conducted to maintain the fire dependent oak forests that are found on SGL 257.
Smoke may be visible while traveling on routes 309 and 443 near Tamaqua between the hours of 10:00am - 6:00pm.
The PA Commission makes this announcement in hopes of reducing called to the 911 Communication Center.
