Daniel E Bixler, age 75, of Hegins, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on Friday, March 3, 1944, in Hebe, a son of the late Ray Bixler and the late Violet Reed Bixler.

Dan was a truck driver for Twin Valley Farmers Exchange, Hegins, until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Glenn Bixler.

He is survived by a son, Elvis D Bixler of Hegins; a daughter, Angela J Panetta of Arlington, TX; a grandson, Ryan J Bixler of Hegins; two brothers, Dale Bixler of Fearnot and Terry Bixler of Hegins; a sister, Eileen Erdman of Klingerstown; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating.

A viewing will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be made in St. Peter's Cemetery, Fearnot.

John D. Chiodo, 91, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday evening at York Terrace, Pottsville.

Born in Mt. Carbon, on May 19, 1927, he was a son of the late Rosa (Ferraiolo) and Antonio Chiodo.

He was a member of St. Patrick R.C.C and a member of the former St. Joseph Parish.

John worked at the Pottsville Farmers Market for 14 years; Aetna Steel and at the Intermediate School as a janitor.

He was a very active in the Pottsville community. He was a 50+ year member of the Knights of Columbus Schuylkill Assembly Council 431, where he was a past Grand Knight and also, a fourth degree Knights of Columbus; a 50+ year member of the Humane Fire Company and Sons of Italy; a 20+ year member of the Travelers Protect Association; and the Sergeant of Arms for AFLCIO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Chiodo; and brothers: Carl, Anthony, Angelo, and Sam.

John is survived by several nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick R.C.C., 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville with Msgr. EdwardJ. O’Connor as celebrant. A viewing will held on Tuesday morning at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St. at 9:30 a.m until the procession will leave for church.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pottsville.

Margaret L. Klein, 92, formerly of Orwigsburg Street, Tamaqua, PA, died on Thursday, April 18, 2019, in Orwigsburg. 

She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Klein, Sr., who died in August of 1979. 

Born in Tamaqua on August 8, 1926, Margaret was the daughter of the late Harold and Harriet (nee Jacquet) Price. A 1944 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she was a nurse’s aide who worked for the Hamburg State School. Margaret was a former member of the South Ward Playground Association and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua. 

She is survived by son, Thomas W. Klein, Jr., and his wife Susan of Stillcreek, PA; grandchildren, Thomas W., III, Stephanie, and Ashley; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and brother, David Price and his wife, Sophie of Tamaqua. Margaret was also predeceased by son, Stephen Klein in March of 1974 and brother, Harold “Buddo” Price. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 22 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown will follow services. Call 10-11 AM on Monday at the funeral home.

Raymond G. Williams, 88, of Pottsville, formerly of St. Clair died Monday April 15, 2019 at Providence Place, Pottsville.

Born in Ashland, September 4, 1930, he was a son of the late George and Anna (Huben) Williams.

He was a 1948 Graduate of the former St. Joseph High School, Ashland.

Raymond served in the US Army during the Korean War and was recently honored for his service by the South Korean Government.

He retired as a District Manager from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Pottsville and was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair.

He was preceded in death by his wife Julia D. “Judy” (Higgins) Williams on January 19, 2013.

Surviving are 3 daughters Kathi Wennell and her husband Mark of Philadelphia; Margaret Mary Mallon and her husband Thomas of Lake Tahoe, NV; Barbara Willis and her husband Robert of Rehoboth Beach, DE; 2 sons Raymond Williams and his wife Beth Ann of Minersville; David Williams and his wife Connie of Newtown, CT; 9 Granddaughters Lindsey, Jaime, Emily, Elizabeth, Nicole, Erin, Ashley, Julia and Lauren; 3 Grandsons Ryan, Owen and Neal; 5 Great-Granddaughters Juliana, Cecelia, Blake, Sydney and Adalyn; 5 Great-grandsons Liam, Declan, Bo, Kaeden, and Beckett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday April 25, 2019 from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair with Msgr. William F. Glosser officiating. . Friends may call from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Thursday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ray Williams, may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund at the above address. Burial with military honors will be in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Pottsville.

Kathleen Rodriguez, 70, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday, April 15th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, with her daughters by her side.

Kathleen was born in New York, NY on March 4, 1949, a daughter of the late Anna L. (Erwin) Duryea and Charles C. Duryea, Sr.

She was the wife of the late Manuel Rodriguez, he passed in December 1988

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and before her health declined, she worked in Childcare.

Kathleen is survived by four daughters, Tammie L. Durham, Victoria Rodriguez, wife of Drew Wolfe, Katherine Rodriguez and Rebecca Callaway, wife of Buddy.

Kathleen is also survived by her 6 grandchildren Tori, Destiny, Kobe, Kole, Khloe, and Harper. One sister, Maryann Grace.

She was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Sands and brothers Charles, Richard and Thomas Duryea.

A Religious Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 26th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg. Memorial gathering will be from 5:00 PM until time of service.

Donald E. Schwalm, 82, of Williamstown passed away Thursday evening.

Born in Valley View, September 8, 1936, a son of the late Edward and Celica Bainbridge Schwalm.

He was a 1954 graduate of Williamstown High School. Donnie retired from Amp Inc. as a Die Designer.

He was a 52 year member of Ashlar Lodge F & AM # 570, Lykens where he served as a past master.

He was an active member of Williamstown United Methodist Church, serving on various committees.

Donnie was a Williams Township Supervisor for a number of years as well as serving on the board of the Williamstown United Methodist Cemetery.

He enjoyed spending time with family and attending the grandchildren's sporting events.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Carol White Schwalm, a son, Keith Schaffer (Diana), 3 grandchildren, Jim (Kelly), Drew & Vicki, one great grandchild, James. One brother, Larry Schwalm (Berdine).

Masonic services will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 23rd from the Williamstown United Methodist Church. Religious services will follow with Pastor Amanda Bressler. Visitation will be from 10-11 am at the church. Burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Williamstown Untied Methodist Church, 203 East Street, Williamstown, PA 17098.
