Elizabeth Ann Bretz, aka Betty Ann Bretz, age 87, of Pottsville, PA passed away Sunday, April 21st, 2019 at her home.
Born in Mill Creek, PA on March 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Edwin and Elizabeth Mary (Wentz) Fahl. Betty was a graduate of Saint Clair High School, Class of 1950 and then attended Ford's Business School in Pottsville. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Miners Bank in Pottsville.
Betty was a member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville and loved sewing, shopping, playing cards, going to the casino, and most of all attending her grandchildren's activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of 39 years, Charles N. Bretz in 1992.
Betty is survived by a son Ralph N. Bretz and his wife Regena, Pottsville; a daughter Diane Price and her husband Paul, Shillington; five grandchildren: Ralph Jr., Kevin, Chris, Sara, and Nina; four great-grandchildren: Ryan, Allie, Zachary, and Kylie; a sister-in-law Jane Shomgard, Wyomissing; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville at 9AM on Friday, April 26th.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday evening from 7-9PM and Friday morning from 7:30-8:30AM at the Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon. Interment will be held in the Charles Baber Cemetery Pottsville, PA.

Jane A. “Janie” (Loughlin) Rupert, 66, of Shenandoah, passed away early Monday morning at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center.
Born in Shenandoah, January 19, 1953, she was a daughter of the late John P. “Jack” and Pauline (Wandzilak) Loughlin.
Janie was a graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School and the Empire Beauty School, Pottsville.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a CNA at the former Pottsville Hospital for more than 20 years.
Janie was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed crocheting and had a fond admiration for horses. Above all else, her family was of most importance to her.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband, Charles W. Rupert.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Keppel and her husband, Gary, of Shenandoah, and Kelly Durham and her husband, Josh, of Boothwyn; four grandchildren, Karlee Keppel and Olivia, Jack and Gage Durham; two brothers, Dennis Loughlin and his wife, Cindy, of Morea, and Dan Loughlin and his wife, Dr. Jodi Piekarski Loughlin, of Shenandoah Heights; three nieces and one nephew.
Religious services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian will officiate. A visitation will be held from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Mayre (Mary) Zamonas, 86, a former resident of Brandonville, passed away Tuesday, April 23rd, while a guest at the Shenandoah Manor Senior Living Community.
Mary was born in Girard Manor on April 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Ruth (Steimling) and Clarence Rupp.
She graduated from the former Sheppton high school and was a machine operator in the local garment industry, having last worked at the former L&H Factory in Sheppton. She was also a member of the ILGWU.
Mary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Brandonville, and was an excellent cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Zamonas, Sr.. in 1998, and by brothers Clarence and Larry Rupp and a sister Betty Romanies.
Mary is survived by her daughter Barbara, wife of Joe Snyder,Sr., of Wilburton; and by her son, Wiliam Zamonas, Jr. and his wife Cynthia, of Weston; and a sister, Alice Dormer, of Mechanicsburg.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; Leigh Ann Maurer; Jeremy Knorr; Kimberly Molinaro; Rebecca Zamonas; Ryan Zamonas; Jacob Zamonas;; Maykayla Zamonas; Michael Zamonas and 2 great grandchildren, Alyssa Maurer and Benjamin Maurer, all of whom she loved spending time with.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 27th at Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, with Pastor Jay Serafin officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 9 AM until the time of the service Saturday morning. Mary will be laid to rest in the Brandonville Union Cemetery afterwards.
