Each year the students of STC, as part of their Schuylkill County Youth Summit Project, host the event to help bring awareness to Schuylkill Keep It Pretty (SKIP) goals and initiatives.
Approximately, 70 students participated from 7 Schuylkill County School Districts. Blue Mountain, Minersville, Mahanoy Area, North Schuylkill, Tamaqua, STC North and STC South participated; and Pine Grove will perform a clean-up at a later date. Each school was permitted to have one team of students clean for 3 hours.
After the three hour clean-up session, students were then invited to STC South for lunch and the trophy presentation. Teams presented their work and were judged on number of bags filled, number of large items found, school spirit/creativity, and their ability to present to the judges. This year’s guest judges were Mandy Fitzpatrick, Sch. County. Vision; Sch. County. Commissioner Gary Hess; Darlene Dolzani, Executive Director of SKIP and Joe Scribbick, Sch. County Solid Waste and Recycling. The 2019 winning was from STC North. STC North student cleaned along Dark Water Road outside of St. Clair.
