According to Pottsville Police Chief Richard Wojciechowsky, the deceased male found near the Schuylkill River in Pottsville, just off Mauch Chunk Street on Monday 06/03/2019 at approximately 4:30pm has been identified as Gary Paul Haney, a 53 year old white male whose last known address was the Harrisburg area of Dauphin County.
The Pottsville Bureau of Police and the Schuylkill County Coroner’s office are asking for any information from the public that may help locate a next of kin or extended relative of Haney.
At this time the cause of death remains undetermined pending additional examination and testing by the Coroner’s office.
An initial virtual autopsy and examination completed by the Coroner did not identify any possible cause of death but did confirm an absence of any evidence indicating trauma.
