Knife Wielding Woman Arrested After Incident in Ashland

A woman who was threatening people with a knife in Ashland on Tuesday is in custody.


According to Ashland Police Chief Gerard Daley, on Tuesday afternoon,while on patrol, he was dispatched 129 East Centre Street, the Rite Aid, for a woman who was causing a disturbance with a knife.

Chief Daley immediately responded and located the woman, later identified as Linda Dooner, 54, of Ashland, in the parking lot.

As Daley got out of his vehicle, the woman charged him in an aggressive manner with the knife.

Daley verbally ordered Dooner to drop the weapon, but she refused.  It wasn't until Daley pulled his gun, that she dropped the weapon and Daley was able to take her into custody.

Witnesses inside the store told police that Dooner was yelling and chasing two males with the knife and threatening to kill them.   Employees of the store attempted to tell her to leave but then she approached them with the knife as well.

Dooner later told police that she was angry because gave $40 to purchase "weed" from one of the males a few days ago and had not received it.

Dooner is facing charges of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kilker and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bail.
