Around 5:15am, Thursday morning, emergency personnel were dispatched to 222 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah, for a house fire with entrapment.
As crews responded a column of smoke could be seen, and a 2nd alarm was requested. When crews arrived they found heavy fire coming from the rear of the home on the second floor.
Within minutes of arrival, the fire was knocked and marked under control within a half an hour.
The fire was contained to the address at 222, with minor damage to adjacent homes.
According to Shenandoah Fire Marshal Rick Examitas, the cause of the was determined as accident, electrical in nature. The fire is believed to have started in the 2nd floor rear bedroom.
Two adults and three children, who lived at 222, were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family with lodging, food, and clothing.
