Pottsville Police Obtain Warrant for Man Wanted for Saturday Shooting

The Pottsville Police are asking for public's help in located a man they say is responsible for a shooting in the city on Saturday afternoon.

According to Police, on Saturday 07/13/19 at approximately 3:50pm Pottsville Police were dispatched to the area of 3rd and Sanderson Street for a report of shots fired in the area.

Upon arrival officers located several spent 9mm casings and damage to several occupied and unoccupied residences on the west side of the 500 block of N. 3rd Street. Witnesses reported that approximately ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes prior to the incident being reported to police, three (3) people had been walking south on N. Third St when a black Chevrolet truck, possibly a Colorado, had approached them southbound on Third Street.

After a brief verbal argument between all parties involved the three people began to run north on Third Street and then west on Harrison Street while a passenger in the truck fired several rounds in their direction.

An investigation by Pottsville Police that involved witness interviews and review of area surveillance footage from various contributors led to the identification of Isaiah Jared Samuels, 22, of Pottsville as being the suspect who had fired the handgun from the black Chevrolet Colorado at the pedestrians.

Investigators were able to recover the Taurus 9mm handgun used in the incident. An arrest warrant for Samuels was obtained by Det. Kirk Becker charging Samuels with Felony Persons Not to Possess, Use, Manufacture, Control or Sell Firearms; Recklessly Endangering Another Person; and Persistent Disorderly Conduct.
