Mr. George C. Sherman Sr., age 74, of Mahanoy City, died Sunday at his home. Born in Bethlehem he was the son of the late George and Gertrude (Neidlinger) Sherman. He was a Vietnam veteran serving with the United States Army and was steward and past commander of the former Mahanoy City VFW Post 1420. He was also a member of Mahanoy City American Legion Post 74. He had been employed with World Resources in Pottsville. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife Mary, a grandson Jonathan Palubinsky and 2 brothers Paul and Frank. Survivors include one daughter Cindy Palubinsky and a son George C. Sherman Jr. both of Mahanoy City and 3 grandsons Cody Palubinsky and Zachary and Ethan Sherman. Born on June 28, 1938, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Harry A. and Ruth I. Strausser Zimmerman.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Dennis was a truck driver and worked for HM Felty, Farmers Pride, and retired from Bell and Evans.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Dolores J. Smith Zimmerman, and his three brothers, Larry L., Allen H., and Dean R. Zimmerman.

Surviving are a daughter, Denise and husband Luke Kutz of Pine Grove; a son, Brian Zimmerman of Schuylkill Haven; six grandchildren, Matthew and wife Fallon Kutz, James Kutz, Miranda and husband Jake Chamberlain, Katie Zimmerman, Megan Zimmerman, and Tyler Zimmerman; six great grandchildren, Lillian, Eden, Kairi, Ross, Zoey, and Elliott; two sisters, June Kohler of Salisbury, MD, and Donna Hartman of Milton, PA.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, PA. A procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home after the visitation.
