A crash in Luzerne County on Interstate 81 is causing traffic problems on Interstate 81 and in the borough of McAdoo.Around 10:30am, emergency personnel were dispatched to northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Mile marker 141 in Luzerne County for a motor vehicle accident involving multiple vehicles and injuries and entrapment.
As of 11:15am, very few details are available on the specifics of the crash.
Due to the crash, Interstate 81 northbound is closed between McAdoo/Tamaqua and the Greater Hazleton Exits, with traffic beginning to back up in the northbound lanes.
UPDATE: 4 Helicopters have been called for those injured in the crash.
The backlog also causing traffic problems in McAdoo due to the flow of vehicles attempting to use Route 309 as a detour.
Avoid the area until the crash is clear.
