Local Vendors and Ethnic Foods on Display at 27th Annual Pioneer Day

Almost 3 decades later, the annual Pioneer Day in Ashland gave the community a day of fun and great food for all those who attended.

The event, hosted by the Pioneer Tunnel, included over 20 vendors with crafts and food that included bleenies, halushki, halupkis, bondukies, pierogies, funnel cakes, gyros, pizza, apple dumplings and more.

The churches of the borough were well represented as well.

Music for the event was provided by the "Light Weight Band" and "The Breaker Boys".

As usual, the "Loki" Stream Train and the Coal Mine Trains were running non-stop, with many taking the mine train just to cool off in the temperatures inside.

Hundreds attended the event Saturday, even with some downpours midday, the crowds returned.
