Rita Bobarksy, 82, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Tuesday, August 6th, peacefully, at Rosewood Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven.

Rita was born in Mahanoy City, PA on July 22, 1937, a daughter of the late Margaret (Starkey) and James Blackwell.

Rita attended Mahanoy City High School.

She worked for many years at the former City Shirt in Mahanoy City

She is preceded in death by a brother James Blackwell.

She is survived by her longtime companion Michael Pleva, a Step Daughter Denise Kanigoski, Grandchildren Corey & Jordann Seasock. A Niece Jacqueline Blackwell McCracken and a great niece Rhyan McCracken.

Interment will be held at 10:30 am at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA on Friday August 9th.

Leonard J. Malafarina
, 66, of Lewisberry,PA formerly of Ashland passed away Tuesday, August 6th, 2019 at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA.
Born in Ashland,PA March 1,1953 the son of the late Leonard and Barbara (Zerby)
Malafarina. He graduated from North Schuylkill High School Class of 1971 and
McCann School of Business in 2000. Associate degree in Business Adminstration and major in computer science. He worked for the Atlas Powder Company in Tamaqua,PA for 28 years until retirement. Len enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dominoes and Casinos. 

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a daughter Amanda in 1992 and a sister Joann Berry.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years Joan E. (Noon) Malafarina, Lewisberry,PA; Two sisters: Teresa wife of John Repko, Germantown,N.Y., Angela wife of Bill Groody, Ashland, nieces, nephews and close friends. 

Services will be held from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Inc., Ashland, PA, at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 11th, with Rev. Dana Heckman-Beil officiating.
Friends are invited to call Sunday 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Inc. Charles Heizenroth III, Supervisor.

Vincent P. Catizone, 92, Girardville, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Girardville, he was a son of the late Antonio and Concetta Fulginiti Catizone. He was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church, Girardville, now St. Charles Borromeo Parish.

Vince was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Philippine Sea. During his time in the Navy, he served on the South Pole Expeditions, under Admiral Byrd. He came from a family of barbers and served his clients while in the Navy, King of Prussia and along side his brother John in Shenandoah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Beck Catizone; his four brothers: Paneteleona, Peter, Anthony and Joseph Catizone; a sister, Concetta Hennessy.

Vince is survived by his six children: Dorothy and her husband Patrick Smith, Vincent and his wife Yelena Catizone, Ellen and her husband Charles Portz, Joseph and his wife Linda Catizone, Helene and her husband Dave Vass, Marianne and her husband Ramiro Arellano; his brother John Catizone; his five sisters: Michelena Catizone, Marian Kleeman, Rosemary Zelli, Jean Ann Kessler and Elizabeth Burns; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday August 13th at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Girardville with Rev. Francis Iroot as the celebrant. Friends are invited to a visitation at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, on Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made, in Vincent’s name, to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation at PO Box 781352 Philadelphia, PA 19178.

Randall Charles Mataka, age 62, of Auburn, PA passed away on Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 at his home.

Born in Pottsville, PA on July 18, 1957, he was the son of the late George and Naomi (Breisch) Mataka.

Randy served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 from 1975 till 1981. He worked as an Inventory Manager at Wis International in Schuylkill Haven.

Randy loved going to the casino and was a avid Phiadelphia sports fan always watching the Phillies, Eagles and 76'ers.

Randy is survived by his wife of 6 years, Lisa (Gould) Mataka; a son Randall Mataka; three brothers: George Mataka and his wife Magaret, David Mataka and Mark Mataka and his wife Maureen; a sister Tammy Mealing and her husband David; and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon at 7:30PM on Friday, August 9th, with Rev. Lorraine Heckman officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday evening from 6-7:30PM at the Funeral Home.

Interment with Miltary Honors will be held private the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
