Wanted Fugitive Found with Meth and Bath Salts

Minersville and Cass Township Police arrested a man on Wednesday that was a wanted fugitive in Schuylkill County.


According to police, on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, officers Jeffrey Bowers of the Minersville Police and  Patrolman Harry Brown of the Cass Township Police received a call from the Quandel Car Wash that a Dodge Ram had been parked in a car wash bay all day.

Officer Bowers and Officer Brown found Javier Guzman, 48, of Summit Hill sleeping, while leaning over the center console.

The officers woke Guzman and ran his information through the Schuylkill County Communications.  The check found that Guzman was wanted by Schuylkill County Detectives for failure to appear in court on firearms charges.

After acquiring a search warrant on the vehicle, the officers also found a backpack with a loaded Regent .45 handgun, approximately one ounce of methamphetamine.

A subsequent search of the vehicle found a cardboard envelope containing approximately 96 grams of suspected bath salts and a detailed ledger book detailing drug amounts and customers.

Guzman was taken into custody and is now facing additional charges of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Guzman was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Plachko and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 cash bail.
