On Saturday, September 21, 2019, the 2nd Annual Mrs. T's Pierogie eating contest was held.The contest was held as part of the 2nd Annual Pottsville on Tap.
9 contestants competed to determine who could eat the most pierogies in 3 minutes.
Last year's winner, Tomas Campion, returned to defend in title but matched his record of 28 pierogies and placed second.
Mike Hornacek, aka "The Gunny", took home this year's trophy with eating 50 pierogies!
Also participating in this years contest were Cogan Jones, Tyler Minnich, Edward Hardy, Anthony Geiman, Joe Kalyn, John Weller, Mike Cataldo.
Judging the contestant were Matt Direnzo, Tim Pellish, Dottie Botto, Joe Drazdis, Dave Clews, Bob Weaver, Tim Coyle, and Steve Nelson.
Mrs. T's Chris Dende MC'd the event and Pottsville Mayor Jim Muldowney was timekeeper.
The Wheel Restaurant in Pottsville cooked and provided the Pierogies.
