Evelyn F. Bass, 94, formerly of Lombard Street, Tamaqua, PA died on Saturday, September 14, 2019 in Lehighton, PA. She was the wife of the late Lester W. Bass who died in 1987. Born in Tamaqua on June 21, 1925, Evelyn was a daughter of the late George and Edna (nee Deisenroth) Keich. A 1943 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she continued her education at the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. Evelyn was employed at the former Coaldale State Hospital, Coaldale, PA and prior to that she worked at the Veterans Hospital in Ferry Point, MD. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua where she was a member of the Women’s Guild. Over the course of her lifetime, Evelyn was the caregiver for multi-generations of her family. She is survived by sons, Lester W. Bass, Jr. and his wife, Margarita of Palmerton, PA, Gary G. Bass of Reading, PA, and David A. Bass and his wife, Vicky of Baldwinsville, NY; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Ontiveros, in 2015. Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 19 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Darryl Kensinger officiating. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park will follow the services. Call 10-11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Kathryn B. Krall, formerly of Mahanoy City, died Friday night at Genesis HealthCare Lehigh Center, Macungie. She was 90. Kathryn was the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Krohn) Forgotch. A graduate of Mahanoy City High School and Empire Beauty School, she owned and operated a beauty salon for many years in Mahanoy City. She was a member of the Mahanoy City Hairdresser Association. Kathryn was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Calcutta parish in Mahanoy City. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, and her brothers Bernard and Rev. Joseph Forgotch. Surviving are her son Thomas and his wife Maria, her daughter Kathleen and her husband Dr. Paul McCabe all of Allentown, granddaughters Nina and Cara Krall and Corinne and Colleen McCabe, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Martin F. Kern on Thursday morning at 11 AM at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Drums. Visitation at the church, Thursday morning beginning at 9:30 AM. Tania R. Johnson, 54, of Williamstown, passed away Saturday, September 14th at the Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Harrisburg, February 25, 1965, a daughter of Melvin Carl, Tower City and the late Janice Wren Carl.
Tania was a custodian for the Williams Valley School District.
She enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting and diamond painting. She was an avid fan of Penn State football and the Philadelphia Eagles. Her family meant the world to her.
She was active with the Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania.
Surviving in addition to her father, are her husband, Douglas L. Johnson, Sr; two children, Tricia M. Pannebaker and her husband Aaron, Harrisburg; Douglas Jr. (DJ), Williamstown; step-granddaughter, Jilia Pannebaker; brother, Troy Carl, Tower City, sister; Sheila Deiter, Orwin.
A Celebration of Tania's life will be held Wednesday, September 18th at 7:00 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City with Pastor Amanda Bressler. Visitation will be from 6-7 at the chapel. Following the service everyone is invited to the Brown Jug Restaurant for refreshments and time of fellowship.
