Eloise Startzel, 93, of Brockton, PA died on Monday, September 16, 2019 in Orwigsburg, PA.

She was the wife of the late Earl K. Startzel, Jr. who died in 2005.

Born in Tamaqua, PA on October 5, 1925, Eloise was a daughter of the late Adam, Sr. and Myrtle (nee Zimmerman) Schmauch. She attended Tamaqua High School and worked for the former Anchor Deep Seafood in Tamaqua. Eloise was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua.

She is survived by children, Diane Reeser and her husband, Mark of Baltimore, MD, Denise Sadusky and her husband, Donald of Mahanoy City, PA, Earl Startzel, III of Brockton, and twins Kevin Startzel of Brockton and Karen Berezwick and her husband Joseph of Tamaqua; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; and several nephews and nieces.

Eloise was predeceased by a son, Darrell Startzel, Sr, in 2015; brother, Adam Schmauch, Jr.; sister, Elizabeth Hirsch; grandson, Darrell Startzel, Jr.; and great grandson, Ryan Sadusky.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 21 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Darryl Kensinger officiating.

Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery will follow the services. Call 6-8 PM Friday, September 20 and 10-11 AM Saturday, September 21 at the funeral home. Marjorie “Midge” Alma Lincovich, 83, of Pottsville, PA and formerly of Tuscarora, PA died on Monday, September 16, 2019 in Pottsville. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Lincovich to whom she was married 59 years at the time of his death in 2014.

Born in Delano, PA on February 25, 1936, Midge was a daughter of the late George and Irene (nee Levy) Maurer. She attended Tamaqua High School and worked for Tami Sportswear, Tamaqua, PA. Midge was a member of the former St. Bertha Catholic Church until it closed and a member and past president of the Tamaqua Democratic Club. To her, family was priority, and her world was centered around family life.

Midge is survived by son, Joseph Lincovich of Pottsville, PA; daughters, Betsy Bassler and her husband, Mark of Brockton, PA and Diane Baddick of Tuscarora; grandchildren, Leann Baddick of Brockton and Dana Schlier of Tamaqua; great grandchildren, Alexa Williams, Devin Schlier, Jacob Schlier, Aiden Schlier, and Brody Schlier; sister, Joan Wassel of Tamaqua; and several nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Nester.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 20 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park will follow services. Call 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 19 and 10-11 AM on Friday, September 20 at the funeral home. Troy D. Shadle, 55, of Moyers Station Rd., Schuylkill Haven, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East.

Born on January 30, 1964 in Pottsville, he was a son of Anna K Brower Shadle of Tower City and her companion Clarence Gibson.

He was a 1981 graduate of Williams Valley High School and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tower City.

Troy worked for 30 years as a Machinist for Dayton Superior in Tremont and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He was presently employed at Mrs. T's.

He enjoyed bow hunting, fishing and loved cars and animals. He was an avid Y & R watcher.
Troy's family meant the world to him.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 25 years, Lori Lehman Shadle; son, Ethan Shadle of Schuylkill Haven; daughter; Courtney Shadle of North Carolina; two grandsons, Landon & Maddox Shadle; brother, Jeff and wife Shelly Shadle of Williamstown.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Noon at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Roderick Sutliff officiating. There will be a viewing on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until Noon at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the St. Mark's (Brown's) Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

Joseph Anthony Swingle, 96, of Frackville passed away Sunday, September 15th, at Lehigh Valley Health Network Schuylkill-East. Joseph was born in Frackville, PA on February 10, 1923, a son of the late Antoinette Alice (Savitsky) Swingle, of Vilna Poland and Charles (Zwinglii) Swingle, of Lithuania.

Predeceased by his parents, first wife Lois Grace (Derr) Swingle, Daughter Beverly Carol Ann Sanko-Mattson, Second Wife Helen Margaret (Morris-Lazer) Swingle, Granddaughter Deneen Lazer, Siblings Bryan, Frank, Edward, Walter, Sopie & Veronica.

He served in the United States Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939-1940 working in Forestry in AZ. He was a veteran of WWII serving 4 years with the U.S. Army before his Honorable Discharge in 1944.

He lived in Frackville most of his life, moved back to Philadelphia to attend Spring Garden Technical Institute 1947-1951, then returned to open Swingle's Garage Body and Fender Shop and Towing which he owned and operated for the next 45 years, during this time he also built and owned the Bel-Air Motel, and dabbled in small business ventures .

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Frackville for over 70 years and the Knights of Columbus. Joseph enjoyed contributing to St. Joseph's Church and Convent for many years, and was a good friend of both Father Connely and Father Boyle.

Joseph enjoyed 18 years of vacations at Daytona Beach with his first wife Lois & Daughters. He also enjoyed his many trips in the RV with his second wife Helen, traveling across the United States, as well as trips to Ireland.

He is survived by two daughters, Lois, wife of Gary Bair; Maxine Gillespie;

three sons Kenneth, husband of Diane Lazer; Joseph, husband of Carol Lazer & Richard Lazer. Grandchildren Tammy Herb; Wendy Flail, wife of Shawn; Carl Sanko, husband of Jeanine; Jeffrey Sanko, husband of Autumn; David Gillespie, Shawn Lazer, Shelly Knepper wife of Walter, Crystal, and Holly. Several Great and Great-Great Grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's the Worker, Frackville on September 28 at 10:30 AM, Interment at St. Joseph's Church Cemetery, Frackville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Orwigsburg is entrusted with arrangements.

Jean L. Zalonka, 73, of Orwigsburg, passed away at home Sunday, September 15th, while in the company of her family.

Jean was born in Pottsville, on August 7, 1946, a daughter of the late Mildred (Brown) and Lamar Fisher.

She was the wife of Vincent A. Zalonka. They were married October 24th, 1964.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Schuylkill Haven. She was employed as a Clerk at Thomas Pharmacy, Orwigsburg and also worked at JDM Mail in Hamburg and was a Hotel Clerk at the River Inn.

Her sister, Donna, widow of Gary Correll; her brother, Lamar (Bud) Fisher, husband of Ellen.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Tiffany Dreher, wife of Jordan. Megan, Jade, Jarrett Zalonka and her great grandson Gavin Dreher.

She was predeceased by her son Vincent Zalonka, grandson Neiko Zalonka and sister Diane Fisher.

Public Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday evening, September 22nd at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 23rd at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Schuylkill Haven, with Msgr Rev. Edward Zemanik officiating.

Interment will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Pottsville.
