On paper, the North Schuylkill Spartans and Pottsville Crimson Tide entered Week 10 of their regular season equally matched.
They entered the week with 8-1 records, with both receiving their only loss from Wyomissing earlier in the season.
It was Pottsville who struck first Friday night when they scored on their first drive, but that would be the only time they would get close to the end zone all night.
It was after that drive, the Spartan defense got to work and began to put pressure on Pottsville's quarterback.
The Spartans offense also kicked in and scored 22 unanswered points by half time.
Both teams came out of the locker rooms after halftime ready to play but it was two minutes into the half when North Schuylkill's #6 Jaden Leiby went down and would be transported to an area hospital after breaking his neck during a play.
The Spartans remained focused after the game resumed and would continue to pressure Pottsville.
North Schuylkill scored one more time before the end the game to make the final score 29-7 and the Spartans earning the Schuylkill League Division 1 Championship.
The night also included Senior Recognition Night, Pink Out Night for Breast Cancer Awareness, and recognition of the Ashland and Frackville Youth Football teams.
