John J. Clark, 75, Mahanoy City, passed away unexpectedly at home on September 26, 2019
He attended local schools and worked various jobs. He especially loved working at Muhammad Ali’s training camp in Deer Lake. He met many sports stars and celebrities of which would not have been possible without his closest friend, Gene Kilroy.
He leaves behind his lifelong companion Bonnie Craig, and her son Nicholas and Lillianna who he adored as a granddaughter. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Malachi Clark and mother Christine (Bowers) Clark, as well as brothers James, Joseph, Anthony, Malachi, and one sister Matilda Mooney. He was the last of his immediate family.
A memorial service at St Cecilias’s Chapel on south Catawissa Street will be held on Saturday October 5th, 2019 at 7pm with Father Bill Linchorst officiating.
Friends may call at the Chapel from 6 to 8:30 PM.

John Russell Benner, Jr,age 81, of Pine Grove, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at Providence Place, Pine Grove.
He was born on Tuesday, February 22, 1938, in Scranton, PA, a son of the late John R Benner, Sr and Evelyn M Diehl Benner.
He was a 1955 graduate of the former Scranton Central High School 1965 graduate of LaSalle University, Philadelphia.
He was a CPA for John R Benner CPA.
He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Tremont.
He was also a member of Hegins Area Rotary Club; where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, Valley Lodge F&AM 797, Valley View, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Lodge 125, Millersburg. He was a board member of the Pine Grove Twp Authority. John was active in his church and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley M Benner, who passed away June 3, 2017, a daughter, Donna Deibler, and a son, Frank E Benner.
He survived by two daughters, Patricia A Benner of Palmyra, Kathryn M Nork and her husband Donald of Arnold, MD; a son, William A Benner and his wife Rebecca of Arnold, MD; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Satruday, October 12, 2019 at Noon, at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with Elder Kent Steinmetz officiating.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to Noon at the funeral home.
