HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Tamaqua Conquers Unbeaten Wyomissing to Advance to State Semi-Finals

The Tamaqua Blue Raiders did something no other team was able to do this season, defeat Wyomissing.

The Wyomissing Spartans entered Friday night's game undefeated.  During the regular season, Pottsville, Blue Mountain, and North Schuylkill all took their turn up against the tough team from Berks County but were unable to pull out the win.

On Friday night, it was Tamaqua's turn in the Quarter-Finals to face Wyomissing at North Schuylkill's Spartan Stadium.

By the end of the first, Tamaqua held a lead of 6-3 but Wyomissing recovered a fumble in the end zone half way through second quarter to make it 10-6 by the end of the half.

The second half was all Tamaqua!

The Blue Raider crowd certainly helped, but by the second half, Tamaqua was certainly throwing off the Spartans.

On one drive alone, the Wyomissing offense committed 3 false starts in row to give them a 3rd and long.

The Tamaqua defense also intercepted the ball twice and was able to stop Wyomissing on a 4th and 1.

Tamaqua took advantage of the ball when they had possession and scored twice in the half to take home the win 20-10.

Tamaqua will now face the winner of Montoursville vs. Wyoming Area in the Semi-Finals.

Some specific Tamaqua player stats from the game

 - Nate Boyle (RB) - 28 Rushes for 206 yards and 2 TD
 - Matt Kistler (WR) - 6 Catches for 112 yards and 1 TD
 - Brayden Knoblauch (QB) - 10-17 for 155 Yards and 1 TD
